Higher Priority Applications

Need for Flexi Boarding

When it comes to admission to the School, we give higher priority to applicants who have a need for Flexi Boarding. This can be due to difficult home circumstances or due to family work commitments. In order to establish this, we ask parents to explain the need, and to provide information from independent parties as evidence of this need.

Flexi Boarding need due to difficult home circumstances:

For applications for this higher priority, supporting evidence which can be provided includes letters/emails from:

  • Doctors/medical professionals explaining why the parent has difficulty caring for the child
  • Social worker giving details of an unstable home environment
  • Child’s current school giving details of the impact of the home circumstances on the child
  • Any other independent third party (apart from family/friends) who knows about the home circumstances of the child

Flexi Boarding need due to parent work patterns:

Parents are able to apply for higher priority due to family work patterns. Priority is given to children whose care outside of normal school hours is impacted by their parents’ working schedules involving unsociable or irregular hours. This may include, for example, working patterns requiring shift work, extensive travel, and/or frequent overnight stays.

  • Employers will be required to provide details of the working pattern of the parent(s). Employers will need to complete a template provided by the school and email this from the employer’s work email address.  For self-employed parents, letters from clients will be required.
  • To determine priority, the Admissions Committee evaluates the working patterns of the household collectively. Evidence is required for all parents in the home. Single-parent households will be assessed individually.

Application Process

Applicants should make clear on their application form that they are applying for a higher priority place.

Applications for higher priority based on home circumstances or parental work patterns are reviewed and assessed by the Admissions Committee on a termly basis.

For applications requesting higher priority due to parental work patterns, the Admissions Committee assesses working patterns only and remains unaware of job titles during the decision-making process.

Applying for Year 3, Year 5 and Year 7

For September 2027 entry, families applying for higher priority due to home circumstances or parental work patterns must submit their application form and supporting evidence by the respective deadlines:

  • Year 7 – 31st October 2026
  • Year 3 or Year 5 – 15th January 2027

Only applications with supporting evidence submitted on time will be considered for a higher priority ranking. Late higher priority applications will not be considered in the initial allocation round of places for the relevant year.

Please note that parents will not be informed of higher priority outcomes.
